With the wheel turning to celebrate a new year it brings to mind those friends, family and neighbours who for many varied reasons may have lost their lives over the years. When a neighbour and active fifth quarter community gardener lost a long fought battle with cancer in June 2015, his passing seemed to coincide with an arch being assembled, all be it in rough form. This quickly began to be known as the memorial arch!
As the never ending cycle of life continues to turn we are continually reminded that life in essence is a balance of the powerful forces of creation and destruction.
Along this path we will inevitably loose the warmth from the embrace of the many connections we share with those close to us and indeed as we shall one day become part of that mortal inevitability ourselves.
Whatever our dogma this is one thing we all share!
The arch sits between two of many bath tubs that were donated on the outset of the community garden project. These have been great planters!
If you would like to commemorate the life of a loved one please feel free to tie their name to the arch or tie a ribbon in their memory!
Alternatively you can leave the details of the person you wish to be remembered or email the details of any person whom you would like to be added to the memorial arch and dependant on your wishes we can have a ribbon tied in their memory or a name tie added.
Name ties:
These can be as simple as displaying just the persons name, a picture, the date of birth and departure, and can of course include any message you wish to include!
